Could the room be in Clown’s box?

Nobody seems to remember what’s inside Clown’s box, and inside of Clown’s box is presumably a horrible thing.

And, this world, being nonsensical, it would be perfectly reasonable for an entire room to be inside of the box.

Or maybe… it isn’t the room that’s inside the box…

Perhaps it’s the part of the room that’s self aware.
